Terms and Conditions of Service

1. Definitions and Acceptance

By confirming a booking with Checa Services, you (the "Customer") acknowledge and agree to the terms and conditions set forth below. "We," "our," and "us" refer to Checa Services, while "you" and "your" refer to the Customer. These terms are subject to change, and any amendments will require prior written agreement between both parties.

2. Pricing and Changes

Our pricing is based on the initial information provided by you. Unless otherwise stated, quoted prices exclude taxes, duties, tolls, parking fees, and other charges imposed by authorities. These additional charges are your responsibility.

We reserve the right to adjust prices under the following conditions:

  • Changes in pick-up or delivery locations.

  • Differences in the volume of goods, number of movers, or duration of the service.

  • Altered accessibility to the locations, such as lack of parking, loading zones, or elevators.

  • Currency fluctuations, tax changes, or unanticipated delays.

In such cases, the adjusted charges will be due and payable.

3. Work Not Included

Unless explicitly agreed upon, we do not:

  • Dismantle or install built-in furniture.

  • Disconnect, reconnect, or install appliances and fixtures.

  • Handle floor coverings, carpets, or tiles.

  • Move items from lofts or other locations without proper access.

  • Transport any items excluded under Clause 6

4. Our Responsibility

We are responsible for transporting your goods safely from the "pick-up address" to the "delivery address," ensuring that they arrive in the same condition as when packed or ready for transit. Our insurance coverage includes up to £10,000 per vehicle, subject to a £250 deductible per claim.

If we pack your goods, we guarantee they are adequately packed for transport. However, we are not liable for loss or damage unless caused by our negligence. If additional insurance coverage is required, it is your responsibility to arrange it.

5. Customer Responsibilities

You are responsible for:

  • Declaring the value of your goods in writing. If the declared value is lower than the actual value, our liability will be proportionally reduced.

  • Ensuring valuable items (e.g., jewellery, cash, documents) are not included in the shipment.

  • Securing any necessary permits, licenses, or documentation for the move.

  • Informing us of any access restrictions at the pick-up or delivery locations.

  • Being present or arranging a representative to be present during the loading and unloading process.

  • Protecting your property during the move.

  • Emptying and defrosting refrigerators and freezers.

  • Ensuring the accuracy of the delivery address.

  • Making your phone available for communication during the transport.

Failure to meet these responsibilities may result in delays or additional charges, which will be your responsibility.

6. Items We Cannot Transport

We cannot transport:

  • Hazardous or prohibited items, including drugs, firearms, explosives, etc.

  • High-value goods, such as jewellery, money, or precious metals.

  • Perishable items or those requiring temperature control.

  • Animals, plants, or items susceptible to infestation.

  • Goods requiring special handling or licensing, such as weapons.

You are responsible for ensuring that none of these items are transported without our prior written consent. Failure to disclose or manage these items properly may result in legal or financial consequences.

7. Ownership of Goods

By entering into this agreement, you confirm that:

  • You own the goods or have legal authority to transport them.

  • If acting on behalf of someone else, you have informed the relevant parties of these terms and obtained their consent.

  • You will indemnify us against any legal claims or disputes regarding ownership.

8. Payment Terms

Unless otherwise agreed, full payment is due before the service begins. If a deposit is paid, the remaining balance must be settled before the goods are unloaded at the destination.

In the event of non-payment, we reserve the right to withhold delivery of your goods until full payment is made. If the goods are stored beyond the delivery date, storage charges may apply. If uncollected after 28 days, the goods may be disposed of or handed to a debt collection agency.

9. Damage to Property

We are liable for damage to property only when caused by our negligence or breach of contract. We are not responsible for any damage caused by:

  • Unclear or insufficient instructions from you.

  • Lack of accessibility, such as narrow or obstructed entryways.

  • Existing defects in the property.

10. Exclusion of Liability

We are not liable for loss or damage resulting from:

  • Acts of God, war, terrorism, or civil unrest.

  • Delays caused by weather, traffic, or unforeseen circumstances.

  • Damage to fragile or electronic items unless they were packed by us.

  • Damage to perishable goods, deteriorating items, or those prone to pests.

11. Claims Process

You must report any visible damage, loss, or failure to receive items in writing at the time of delivery. Claims made after our team leaves the premises will not be accepted.

12. Delays

While we strive to adhere to the estimated time of delivery, delays may occur due to weather, traffic, or unforeseen events. We are not liable for any financial loss or inconvenience caused by delays.

13. Subcontracting

We reserve the right to subcontract any part of the service. All terms and conditions of this agreement will apply to subcontracted work.

14. Parking and Access

You are responsible for arranging parking at both the pick-up and delivery locations. Any fines incurred due to parking violations will be your responsibility. If no parking is available or additional fees are required, you may be asked to cover these costs.

15. Postponement or Cancellation

  • Cancellations made 48 hours or more before the scheduled service will incur no charge.

  • Cancellations made within 48 hours will incur a charge of 30% of the total booking amount.

16. Congestion and Toll Charges

Additional charges may apply for entry into congestion charge zones, toll roads, or other restricted areas. For example, a £15 fee applies for entering the London Congestion Charge Zone.

17. Insurance Coverage

Your goods are covered for up to £10,000, subject to a £250 deductible. If you require additional coverage, please arrange for extra insurance. To validate the insurance, an inventory of goods is required.

18. Abbuse to Staff

Any abuse or aggressive behavior towards our staff will not be tolerated. If a driver is forced to leave due to inappropriate behavior, you will still be required to pay the full amount for the service.

19. Governing Law

These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of the United Kingdom. Any disputes arising from this agreement will be subject to the jurisdiction of the UK courts.
